Poltu Quatu is a village and harbour on the north-east coast of Sardinia.

Discover Poltu Quatu

Italy This Way review: Poltu Quatu is a small resort overlooked by hills and rocky granite cliffs, in a charming location around a natural harbour, and very pleasant to visit, even if staying here is very expensive.

Access to Poltu Quatu is not possible for visitors cars, so you can park in the car park at the entrance to the village, on the SP59.

As the village is of quite recent construction you will not find any historic monuments, but you will find lots of low level villas and apartments, often covered with flowers, around the harbour.

Centrally placed in the village there is a new hotel, a very luxury hotel from Marriott Hotels, with an upmarket restaurant and lounge bar. Our budget doesn't stretch to such fine hotels, but it looks very nice! Several other restaurants are also found at Poltu Quatu, part of the same complex, and often with lovely views.

I am not sure if the entire resort is part of the same luxury hotel complex, but I failed to find further information...in any case, staying here is reserved for the wealthy!

Your main activities in Poltu Quatu will simply involve walking through the village, and along and around the harbour to admire the scenery and the boats, so a visit won't take very long unless you are staying here for lunch, but is very worthwhile.

The harbour, called Marina dell'Orso, is extensive and can hold several hundred boats. The further you get from the centre of Poltu Quatu the larger the boats are. From the far end of the harbour you have views across the sea to the islands of Maddalena.

While you are here you can rent a Pirelli speedboat or one of a wide range of other boats, sometimes with a skipper available, to explore the surrounding coast, which is among the most beautiful coasts in Sardinia.

You will not find many shops or in the village, but there is a very nice art gallery shop with some remarkable works of art to admire through the window!

There are no beaches in Poltu Quatu, but there are several that are close by (a short drive rather than a walk). The beach at Liscia di Vacca is about two kilometres from here at Porto Cervo, and the beaches called Grande Pevero and Piccolo Pevero are a little further, at several kilometres beyond Porto Cervo.
